Stories

Elizabeth and her arithmetic

Elizabeth hated arithmetic. Even though her mom and dad got a teacher who would teach her arithmetic she would never learn it. But Elizabeth loved cooking and used to watch the royal cook cooking delicious dishes. The cook used to make delicious things like chocolates, pastries, ice creams, and etc.
Elizabeth wanted to be taught how to make these things. She one day asked her mother “can I be taught how to cook” her mom knew that it was not possible to measure without learning arithmetic but she knew that Elizabeth would get disappointed so she said “ok darling I will call a teacher to teach you”. Elizabeth was very happy but did not know the problem. Her new teacher ms. Ann came to teach her how to cook. The first day she introduced herself.
The next day Ms. Ann was surprised to find out that Elizabeth did not know arithmetic and was shocked. She went and told her mom that she will have to come next year to teach Elizabeth. The next day Ms. Ann told Elizabeth that she had to learn arithmetic before she learnt how to cook. Elizabeth was disappointed that she had to learn arithmetic and had to cook the next year.
That That night she was talking to her mom how important arithmetic was in cooking
Her mom said, “You have to learn things if you like it or not so its better you have fun doing it cause you can’t skip it. Elizabeth now thought of learning maths and also taught of enjoying it. From the next day she starting learning maths and she also found out that she was good at maths.

Elizebeth and her quilts

Every summer Elizabeth went to the Alps with the other princesses in the neighboring countries. There she would spend the summer learning a new hobby.

This summer she learnt how to knit quilts. When she went there she met her old friend sally, who was also a princess. They talked to each other a lot. Elizabeth was happy to meet her old friend. Their teacher this year was Ms. Jenny, she was a nice lady. She taught the princesses how to stitch a quilt. The first day she introduced herself and got to know about the princesses. Sally stitched one fourth of the quilt in the first few days but Elizabeth took a lot of time to stitch the quilt. Even then she did not stitch it well. The other princesses were almost about to finish stitching there quilts.

Elizabeth was afraid that she would not finish stitching her quilt this summer. That day when Elizabeth was upset sally walked into her room and said, “I know how you feel Elizabeth, but being sad will not help, you should try again and practice”. Elizabeth and sally went to Ms. Jenny to ask where Elizabeth had gone wrong. Ms. Jenny said, “Elizabeth you are not pointing the needle in the proper direction”, she then showed her the right way of looping the stitches. She also showed her how to tie the knots.

The next few days Elizabeth tried very hard and practiced. Sally was always with her and helped Elizabeth when she was in doubt. Ms. Jenny helped them through. Slowly Elizabeth gained confidence and she was able to stitch and knot the quilts by herself.
